June is bowel cancer awareness month. Bowel cancer is Australia’s second deadliest cancer which claims the lives of 101 Australians every week (5,255 people a year). It is also one of the most treatable types of cancer if detected early.
While the risk of bowel cancer increases significantly with age, the disease doesn’t discriminate, affecting men and women, young and old.
Finding cancer early increases the chances of successful treatment and survival. Screening every 2 years from age 50 could save your life so please contact the practice to discuss with your GP.
