National Lung Cancer Screening Program

Cancer control measures such as cervical, breast and bowel screening have saved 230,000 lives in recent decades, highlighting the pivotal role of GPs in cancer prevention and care.

The National Lung Cancer Screening program has just commenced on 1 July which aims to detect lung cancer at an earlier stage, resulting in early diagnosis and management.

This screening program is free for the following eligible people:

* Aged between 50 and 70 years old

* Show no signs or symptoms of lung cancer

* Have a smoking history of at least 30 pack-years (ask your doctor how to calculate this)

* Are still smoking or have quit in the past 10 years.

If you are eligible, please contact your GP on 4421 4422 to schedule an appointment to discuss enrolment in the program and the screening process.
