Worrigee Street Medical Centre is committed to attracting and retaining skilled clinicians and to providing a working environment that enables staff to develop their skills and capabilities through continued professional development courses, where skills gained will improve the care we provide to our patients and community. Financial support is provided to our nurses to cover contributions towards course or program fees and demonstrates the organisations commitment to supporting the development of its staff. Non- financial support is also provided to staff members by way of paid work time to attend lectures/tutorials/workshops and exams that will enhance their knowledge and skills.
Our doctors update their skills relevant to their scope of practice regularly by participating in Continued Professional Development (CPD) learning activities. This involves maintaining, developing, updating, and enhancing their knowledge, skills and performance to ensure they deliver appropriate and safe care. CPD is a professional obligation of all medical practitioners and is a registration requirement of the Medical Board of Australia (MBA). Our practice is a teaching and mentoring practice and is affiliated with GP Synergy, to support registrar doctors in their pathways to specialise as general practitioners with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACCRM).
